Solid cast brass stands steady heavy folio volumes.
Support.
When a three-kilogram book rests flat on a study desk, the reader naturally leans forward, putting strain on the neck while casting shadows over the upper margins. Conversely, commercial wire book rests tip backwards or warp under the weight of an oversize architectural monograph. Worse, sharp metal wire clamps pinch and puncture 150 gsm paper pages.
Our cast brass reading stand is water-jet cut from an 8 millimetre solid architectural brass plate, hand-bevelled along the edges, and brushed with 240-grit silicon carbide belts. At nearly two kilograms, the stand anchors itself to oak study tables without sliding. The wide lower lip cradles the text block without bending the bookcloth corners.
Equip.
We catalog accessories specifically designed to interact safely with fragile book bindings, exposed sewing threads, and uncoated paper stocks. No synthetic plastic coatings or abrasive clamps.

Maintain.
We leave our brass unlacquered intentionally. Chemical polyurethane lacquers inevitably chip, flake, and turn cloudy around the screw joints. Unlacquered brass reacts naturally to air, ambient humidity, and the touch of fingers, deepening from a golden luster into a quiet, muted bronze tone over months of reading.
If you prefer to restore the original satin finish, rub the surface lightly with a dry microfiber cloth and a dab of mineral oil or Renaissance micro-crystalline wax. Never use harsh ammonia sprays or acidic household metal polishes on reading tables near paper books.
For reading rooms, institutional archives, or private libraries requiring a complete custom digital catalog setup ($5,000–$20,000), our studio designs and launches dedicated catalog platforms within 4 to 8 weeks, backed by consulting at $100 to $200 per hour.
